WAYF - only one password

WAYF (Where Are You From) is a infrastructure to reuse personal information. With WAYF people from the research and educational sector in Denmark can reuse user name and password from their institution to access services not run by the institution it self. It could be journal databases, libraries etc. WAYF is used as a "single-sign-on system, which means that the system can re-use your data, but only for 8 hours or untill you close your browser. How WAYF works?

WAYF communicates with two types of institutions: Service providers and institutions. The service provider, fx a research library or a online dictionary) provides a service, and the institutions provides information about the users. WAYF provides the technical protocol translations nescessary for communication between the two organisations and ensures that each user has consented to the disclosure of personal data.

WAYF and DeIC

WAYF is rooted in DeIC and is co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, the Ministry of Children and Education, Ministry of Culture and Denmarks Electronic Research Library.
