Net Advisory Forum

The Net Advisory Forum is established as an advisory body in DeiC to increase dialog and user involvement in the development of digital infrastructure.

The Net Advisory Forum shall, through its advice, stimulate and strengthen the development of the common national services and activities in the network and service area based on the principle that investments in digital infrastructure for research and education must be coordinated, utilized and operated efficiently.

The Net Advisory Forum shall ensure continued coherence between international developments and Danish activities, including specifically in the Nordic and European cooperation through NORDUnet and GÉANT.

Net Advisory Forum advises DeiC's board in the areas:

  • Research networks and network-related services (eduroam, eduVPN and others).
  • Media services (Adobe Connect, Zoom, Kaltura and others).
  • Services around "constructive security", such as: Certificates, AAI, DDoS protection, eduVPN, firewall-as-a-service.

  • Evaluating the research network in relation to university needs and international developments.
  • Evaluating the associated service offering in relation to university needs and the benefit of shared services.
  • Evaluate the associated service offering in relation to the universities' needs and the benefit of common services in a given area.
  • Make recommendations to the DeiC Board on the establishment of new common services, as well as the closure of existing services.
  • Follow international developments and make proposals for initiatives in the area.
  • Contribute knowledge and recommendations to the DeiC Board for use in the annual negotiations with universities or the suppliers of services in the area.
  • Preparing proposals for specifications of services and activities, including initiating necessary pilot projects, needs clarifications and other things to clarify user needs and solution options.
  • Communicating opportunities for participation in international projects to their own university and ensuring resources to participate in these either independently or nationally coordinated through DeiC.

In addition, DeiC's board can ask the Net Advisory Forum to solve specific tasks within a specific agreed deadline.

The DeiC Board of Directors appoints up to two persons from each university on the recommendation of the university.
