EOSC-ENTRUST

As a member of EUDAT, DeiC participates in the EOSC-ENTRUST project, which aims to improve the way Europe handles sensitive data.

EOSC-ENTRUST wants to create a network of secure research environments called Trusted Research Environments (TREs) and develop a blueprint for researchers to share and analyze data securely. These environments, also known as Safe Processing Environments or Data Safe Havens, ensure privacy and legal compliance when working with confidential information by, among other things, accrediting selected researchers with access, logging activities, and limiting and controlling what information can leave the secure computing environment.

Currently, there are diverse systems and procedures for managing these environments across Europe, making it challenging for researchers and providers to collaborate. EOSC-ENTRUST strives for a more uniform approach by collaborating across borders and adopting common standards and guidelines. The project will develop a guide for integrating technologies and regulations and test them in different research areas. Finally, EOSC-ENTRUST will work to raise awareness of these research environments and develop guidelines for their long-term use. Collaboration with similar projects ensures that researchers can work safely and efficiently with sensitive data in the future.

The project

EOSC-Entrust is led by ELIXIR and EUDAT and brings together partners from 15 European countries for three years.
