About EuroCC Project

The European HPC Competence center aims to establish the framework for the use of national and European HPC resources.

The EuroCC project is a European initiative that builds and operates a coordinated network of National Competence Centres (NCCs) for High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High‑Performance Data Analytics (HPDA). The project supports the adoption and effective use of advanced computing technologies by industry, academia and public organisations across Europe.

In April 2026, the project entered its third phase (EuroCC 3) under the Digital Europe Programme, building on the foundations established in the previous phases. EuroCC 3 focuses on strengthening the operational maturity of the national competence centres, deepening collaboration across countries, and ensuring that European investments in advanced computing translate into concrete economic, scientific and societal impact.

A key ambition of the EuroCC project is to contribute to European digital sovereignty. As AI systems and data‑intensive applications scale rapidly, secure, trustworthy and sustainable access to computing infrastructure becomes a strategic asset. EuroCC helps European organisations make informed choices about infrastructure, data, governance and partnerships, and supports the development of capabilities that reduce dependency on non‑European technologies.

Across Europe, the National Competence Centres act as single national entry points for advanced computing. They coordinate activities at national level and provide guidance, training, use‑case development and hands‑on support. The centres lower barriers to using HPC and AI by connecting users to relevant expertise, infrastructure and European initiatives, including EuroHPC systems and AI Factories.

EuroCC also strengthens collaboration with complementary European projects, such as CASTIEL, to promote knowledge exchange, share best practices and build a coherent European advanced computing ecosystem. Together, these efforts help raise capabilities across countries while respecting differences in national maturity and needs.

The EuroCC 3 project runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 and brings together partners and associated members from 36 European countries. The network is coordinated at European level by the High‑Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS).

As Denmark’s National Competence Centre, EuroCC Denmark plays a central role in connecting Danish industry, public organisations and academia with Europe’s advanced computing landscape, helping turn computing power into innovation, competitiveness and long‑term value.

CASTIEL and our European Partner

The Coordination and Support Action (CSA) CASTIEL leads to cross-European networking activities between National Competence Centres in HPC-related topics addressed through the EuroCC project. CASTIEL emphasizes training, industrial interaction and cooperation, business development, raising awareness of HPC-related technologies and expertise. As a hub for information exchange and training, CASTIEL promotes networking among NCCs and strengthens idea exchange by developing best practices. The identification of synergies, challenges, and possible solutions is implemented through the close cooperation of the NCCs at a European level.

CASTIEL combines the National Competence Centres formed in EuroCC into a pan-European network.
