DeiC Dataverse
With DeiC Dataverse, Danish researchers can publish research metadata in a repository that supports data management infrastructure.
DeiC Dataverse is the national Danish repository for research data, enabling researchers to publish and archive research data in accordance with the FAIR principles, i.e. with metadata, DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) and clearly defined conditions for access to data and its reuse.
DeiC Dataverse is based on the open source software Dataverse, which is developed in an international collaboration led by the Institute of Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University.
The platform consists of:
- A web portal where anyone can search and access the published data
- A user interface for uploading files and entering metadata, which is available to employees at Danish research institutions via WAYF
- Underground storage for storing small and medium-sized files that do not contain personally identifiable or sensitive information
All functions from the web portal and user interface are also available via APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
The use of DeiC Dataverse to store, share and preserve research data is reserved for employees at Danish research institutions that have entered into the relevant agreements with DeiC as service provider, i.e. a data processing agreement and a connection agreement. The institutions are responsible for recording, managing and assisting their own users and for complying with certain quality standards for metadata (curation).
Who can use DeiC Dataverse?
The status for commissioning DeiC Dataverse at the universities is that employees at the University of Copenhagen can use the service for publishing datasets.
For employees at the other universities, the university lawyers are awaiting clarification in relation to the draft agreement basis submitted to the universities in October 2024.
