Finance and annual reports

The provisions on DeiC's finances are set out in section 19.45.02 of the Finance Act and text note 217.

The activities are financed in different ways based on the following overall distribution:

  • The Research Network and related services are paid for by the connected institutions.
  • Services not directly related to the Research Network (Zoom, Panopto, etc.) are payment services that are settled according to the institutions' use of the service
  • DeiC receives an annual appropriation via the Finance Act.
    • A basic amount corresponding to the amount received in 2018, including activities related to the Coordinating Body for Register Research
    • In addition, the amount is matched 1-1 by the universities collectively
  • In 2023, DeiC also received an amount via the Research Reserve for activities related to quantum computing.

Payment model for the Research Network

The operation of the Research Network and the associated services is 100% user-funded by the connected institutions. The price is based on the affiliated institutions' annual turnover and number of connections.

Payment model for Computing and Storage

In 2019, the universities and the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science entered into an agreement to share the payment for the national investment in the computing and storage area 50/50. The payment model for the universities' part is determined by a distribution key between the universities, which is based on 85% on the universities' research grants (internal + external) and 15% on FTE revenue. The calculations are based on the universities' statistical readiness, where new figures are published mid-year.
