The Q-Algorithm Programme

DeiC has created the “Danish Quantum Algorithm Academy“ (DQAA). The academy will award scholarships on PhD and postdoc level to establish a national ecosystem for development of algorithms and software. The PhD students and postdocs will be employed at the Danish universities or in Danish private companies (business PhD and business postdocs).

All calls will be in free and open competition.

DeiC is offering 2 years fully funded business Postdoc scholarships in the areas of Quantum Algorithms or Quantum- Software.

The Postdoc project shall develop, study or test quantum algorithms, related software and their applications. The scholarship is required to begin in 2025 and is conditioned on the successful Postdoc applicant possessing a PhD degree not older than five years before commencing the scholarship. Exceptions, such as maternity leave of military service, may be accepted if motivated and documented in the application.

FAQ on Scholarships
Is it necessary to provide a reference letter for my application?

These documents are only meant as potential support letters for the project, not the applicant, as stated in the application text. (E.g. in cases where there is prior experience with the project topic). Therefore, it is not a necessary document. If relevant any possible support letters must be send with the application and not separately.

Is the budget sheet document mandatory for the post doc application?

Yes. During the selection process it will be considered if you have made a realistic budget.

Should I send a budget sheet for the Ph.D application?

Given that the cost of a Ph.D. can vary, submitting a budget sheet is not necessary for the application. If funding is granted, DeiC will contact the applicant and request a detailed budget once the candidate has formally accepted the offer.

Can a researcher be mentor for more than one postdoc or Ph.D at a time?

No, a researcher can only be a mentor for one postdoc or PhD candidate at a time, with funding from DQAA.

Can an Associate Professor without permanent employment apply?

Yes, if the person can document permanent employment at the start of the project.

Some of our Ph.D. programmes are 4-5 years. Is it still allowed under DeiC funding rules?

DeiC is in line with the local university rules on these matters. But the DeiC funding for the project is still the started 3 years, which need to be clearly stated in the contract.
