Supercomputing (HPC)

DeiC coordinates the use of the national supercomputers available to Danish researchers. The supercomputers are operated and developed by the universities, which make computing time available to researchers regardless of institutional affiliation.

The abbreviation "HPC" stands for "High Performance Computing" and refers to calculations performed on very fast computers, also known as supercomputers.

The hallmark of supercomputers is that they consist of a large number of very fast computers linked together in a fast network. In other words, it's not really one big computer, but many larger ones linked together.

Using LUMI, Manuel Dillenz and Jose Maria Castillo Robles from DTU Energy combined quantum simulations and machine learning to investigate the atomic scale processes that shape battery performance.

The EPICURE project aims to provide European HPC users with advanced-level support and to ensure that they can move seamlessly between different facilities despite their varying system architectures.
